Why Your Car Wash Squeegee Isn‘t Dispensing Water234
If you're a car wash owner or operator, you know that a properly functioning squeegee is essential to providing a quality car wash experience. But what happens when your squeegee stops dispensing water? There are a few potential causes, and fortunately, most of them are relatively easy to fix.
1. Clogged Nozzles
One of the most common reasons for a car wash squeegee to stop dispensing water is clogged nozzles. Over time, minerals and other debris can build up in the nozzles, blocking the flow of water. To fix this problem, simply remove the nozzles and clean them with a vinegar solution. Be sure to rinse the nozzles thoroughly with water before reinstalling them.
2. Leaking Hoses
Another potential cause of a car wash squeegee not dispensing water is leaking hoses. Check the hoses for any cracks or leaks. If you find a leak, simply replace the hose with a new one.
3. Faulty Solenoid Valve
The solenoid valve is responsible for controlling the flow of water to the squeegee. If the solenoid valve is faulty, it can prevent the squeegee from dispensing water. To test the solenoid valve, simply remove the electrical connector from the valve and apply 12 volts to the terminals. If the valve opens, it is working properly. If the valve does not open, it will need to be replaced.
4. Faulty Pressure Switch
The pressure switch is responsible for sensing the water pressure in the system and turning on the solenoid valve when the pressure drops below a certain level. If the pressure switch is faulty, it can prevent the solenoid valve from opening and the squeegee from dispensing water. To test the pressure switch, simply remove the electrical connector from the switch and apply 12 volts to the terminals. If the switch closes, it is working properly. If the switch does not close, it will need to be replaced.
5. Electrical Problems
Electrical problems can also prevent a car wash squeegee from dispensing water. Check the electrical connections to the solenoid valve, pressure switch, and other electrical components. Make sure that the connections are tight and that there is no corrosion. If you find any loose or corroded connections, clean them with a wire brush and reconnect them.
6. Water Supply Problems
If you have ruled out all of the other potential causes, the problem may be with your water supply. Make sure that the water supply is turned on and that the water pressure is adequate. If the water pressure is too low, the squeegee may not be able to dispense water properly.
7. Frozen Water
If you live in a cold climate, it is possible that the water in the squeegee system has frozen. To fix this problem, simply thaw the water by pouring hot water over the squeegee and hoses. Be sure to disconnect the water supply before thawing the system.
Still Not Working?
If you have tried all of the above troubleshooting tips and your car wash squeegee is still not dispensing water, it is possible that there is a more serious problem with the system. In this case, you should contact a qualified car wash technician for assistance.
