How to Build a Homemade Power Washer344

A power washer is a great tool to have around the house for cleaning everything from cars to patios. However, commercial power washers can be expensive, so if you're on a budget, you can build your own homemade power washer for a fraction of the cost. Here's how:

Materials:*
1/2-horsepower electric motor (1725 RPM)
12-volt DC pump (1.5 GPM, 100 PSI)
Pressure washer gun with wand
1/2-inch garden hose (50 feet)
3/8-inch quick-connect fittings (2)
1/4-inch NPT to 3/8-inch quick-connect fitting
12-volt DC power supply (10 amps)
12-gauge wire (10 feet)
Electrical tape
Safety glasses
Dust mask
Work gloves
Screwdriver
Wrench
Pliers

Instructions:1.

Put on your safety glasses, dust mask, and work gloves.2.

Connect the electric motor to the pump using a 3/8-inch quick-connect fitting. Make sure the connection is tight.3.

Attach the pressure washer gun to the pump using another 3/8-inch quick-connect fitting.4.

Connect one end of the garden hose to the water inlet on the pump. Tighten the connection.5.

Connect the other end of the garden hose to a water source. Make sure the hose is securely attached.6.

Connect the positive terminal of the 12-volt DC power supply to the positive terminal of the electric motor. Connect the negative terminal of the power supply to the negative terminal of the motor.7.

Test the power washer by turning on the power supply. The pump should start running and water should come out of the pressure washer gun.8.

Adjust the pressure of the water by turning the knob on the pressure washer gun.

Tips:*
Use a GFCI outlet when using the power washer.
Never point the pressure washer gun at yourself or others.
Be careful not to spray water on electrical outlets or appliances.
Wear appropriate clothing and eye protection when using the power washer.
Store the power washer in a dry place when not in use.
