Cozy up this winter with a stylish and warm chunky pom pom earflap beanie. With its soft and fluffy texture, this beanie will keep your head and ears toasty during the coldest months. Follow this step-by-step tutorial to create your own cozy earflap beanie, complete with adorable pom poms.

Materials:
Medium-weight yarn (worsted weight, size 4) in two contrasting colors (one for the main beanie and one for the earflaps)
Size 8 (5mm) circular knitting needles
Yarn needle
Scissors
Pom pom maker (optional)

Instructions:

Main Beanie:

With the main yarn color, cast on 90 stitches. Join the cast-on stitches to form a round, being careful not to twist the stitches.

Round 1: Knit all stitches.

Round 2: *Knit 1, purl 1; repeat from * around.

Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 until the piece measures approximately 7 inches from the cast-on edge or is long enough to fit snugly around your head.

Earflaps:

Change to the contrasting yarn color.

Earflap 1: Cast on 24 stitches. Join the cast-on stitches to form a round.

Round 1: Knit all stitches.

Round 2: *Knit 1, purl 1; repeat from * around.

Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 until the earflap measures approximately 8 inches from the cast-on edge.

Earflap 2: Repeat the steps for Earflap 1.

Assembly:

Place the main beanie flat and fold one edge up by about 2 inches. Marker the center stitch of the folded edge.

Place Earflap 1 against the folded edge, aligning the center stitch of the earflap with the marked center stitch.

Pin the earflap to the beanie and sew it in place using the yarn needle and a backstitch.

Repeat the process with Earflap 2 on the opposite side of the beanie.

Fold up the other edge of the main beanie in the same manner as before.

Fold the earflaps down over the folded edge and sew them together at the top.

Pom Poms (Optional):

If desired, make two pom poms using the pom pom maker or a fork. Attach the pom poms to the top of the beanie.

Your chunky pom pom earflap beanie is now complete and ready to keep you warm all winter long!

Styling Tips:

This beanie is incredibly versatile and can be styled in different ways to suit your personal taste.
