Materials:
Medium weight yarn, about 200 yards
Circular knitting needles, size 7 or 8
Tapestry needle

Gauge: 16 stitches and 22 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch

Instructions:

Cast On:
1. Cast on 96 stitches using your preferred method.
2. Join the stitches in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches.

Ribbing (optional):
1. Knit 1, purl 1 for 2 rounds.

Stockinette Stitch:
1. Knit every round until the hat measures 4 inches from the cast-on edge.

Make the Earflaps:
1. Knit the 24 stitches from the left earflap onto your circular needles.

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to make the other earflap.

Sew the Earflaps:
