Materials:

Pom-pom maker (optional)
Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Gauge: 18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch.

Abbreviations:
CO: Cast on
K: Knit
P: Purl
Rep: Repeat
Sl: Slip
St(s): Stitch(es)
WS: Wrong side
RS: Right side

Instructions:

Body of Hat:1. CO 90 sts.
2. Work in stockinette stitch (K1, P1) for 10 rows.
3. Shape Crown: *K4, K2tog, rep from * to end of row.
4. Repeat Row 3 until there are 18 sts remaining.
5. Bind off in knit stitch.

Earflaps:1. From the body of the hat, pick up 36 sts around the opening.
2. Work in stockinette stitch for 4 rows.
3. Bind off in knit stitch.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 for the other earflap.

Brim:1. From the bottom edge of the body of the hat, pick up 100 sts evenly around.
