InstructionsBrim

Make a slip knot and ch 60. Sl st to join into a ring.
Ch 1 and dc around the ring, working 2 dc in each ch. (120 dc)
Sl st to the top of the first dc. Ch 1 and sc around. (120 sc)

Crown

Ch 1 and dc around, working 2 dc in every other sc. (60 dc)
Ch 1 and dc around, working 2 dc in every third dc. (40 dc)
Ch 1 and dc around, working 2 dc in every fourth dc. (30 dc)
Ch 1 and dc around, working 2 dc in every fifth dc. (24 dc)
Ch 1 and dc around, working 2 dc in every sixth dc. (20 dc)
Continue decreasing in this manner until there are only 10 dc left.
Sl st to the top of the first dc and fasten off.

Earflaps

With the right side of the hat facing you, ch 20 and sl st to the side of the hat, 10 stitches from the front edge. Ch 1 and dc across the earflap, working 2 dc in the last st. (21 dc)
Ch 1 and turn. Sc across the earflap, working 2 sc in the last st. (21 sc)
Ch 1 and turn. Dc across the earflap, working 2 dc in the last st. (21 dc)
Ch 1 and turn. Sc across the earflap, working 2 sc in the last st. (21 sc)
Repeat Steps 3-4 until the earflap measures 6 inches long.
Sl st to the top of the first sc and fasten off.

Repeat Steps 1-6 for the other earflap.
Finishing

Fold the hat in half lengthwise and sew the earflaps to the brim, matching the seams.
Weave in any loose ends.

Tips
If you want to make a larger or smaller beanie, simply adjust the number of ch stitches in the brim.
