Round 5-8: Ch 2, dc in each dc around, join with a sl st to top of ch 2.
Round 9: Ch 2, *dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc; repeat from * around, join with a sl st to top of ch 2. (60)
Round 10-12: Ch 2, dc in each dc around, join with a sl st to top of ch 2.
Round 13: Ch 2, *dc in next 5 dc, 2 dc in next dc; repeat from * around, join with a sl st to top of ch 2. (72)
Round 14-17: Ch 2, dc in each dc around, join with a sl st to top of ch 2.
Earflaps

Chain 36.
Row 1: Dc in each ch across, join with a sl st to top of ch 3.
Row 2-12: Ch 2, dc in each dc across, join with a sl st to top of ch 2.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Attach Earflaps

Fold earflap in half lengthwise and sew the raw edges together.
Fold the earflap in half widthwise and sew the raw edges together.
Sew the earflaps to the sides of the beanie, positioning them about 6 inches apart.

Finishing

Weave in any loose ends.
