How to Knit a Beanie with a Rolled Brim306

Materials:
Worsted Weight Yarn (100-150 yards)
Size 8 (5mm) Circular Needles
Yarn Needle

Instructions:

Cast On and Ribbing:

Cast on 80 stitches using the long-tail cast-on method. Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Knit 2, Purl 2 for 2 inches.

Body of the Beanie:

Switch to Stockinette Stitch (knit every row) and continue knitting for 7-8 inches, or until the beanie reaches the desired length. If you want a slouchy beanie, knit for a few more inches.

Rolled Brim:

Row 1: *Knit 1, Slip 1* (Repeat * to * around).
Row 2: *Knit 2, Slip 1* (Repeat * to * around).
Row 3: *Knit 3, Slip 1* (Repeat * to * around).
Continue this pattern, increasing the number of knit stitches by 1 each row, until only 16 stitches remain. Cut the yarn, leaving a 6-inch tail.

Decreasing and Closing:

Thread the tail onto the yarn needle. Pass the needle through the remaining 16 stitches and pull to close the top of the beanie. Secure the yarn tail by weaving it through the stitches around the brim.

Finishing:

Fold up the brim about 1 inch and press it lightly with an iron or steamer. This will help the rolled brim to hold its shape. Enjoy your cozy winter beanie!
