Darcy‘s Mom Senior Earflap Hat Pattern314


This hat is perfect for keeping your head and ears warm in the winter. It's made from a soft, cozy fabric, and the earflaps can be tied up or down to adjust the fit. The hat is also machine-washable and dryable, making it easy to care for.

Materials* 1 yard of fabric
* 1/2 yard of lining fabric
* 1/4 yard of interfacing
* 1 package of bias tape
* 1 button

Instructions1. Cut out the following pieces from the fabric:
* 2 hat pieces (17" x 11")
* 2 lining pieces (17" x 11")
* 2 interfacing pieces (16" x 10")
* 4 earflap pieces (4" x 11")
2. Fuse the interfacing to the wrong side of one of the hat pieces.
3. Sew the two hat pieces together around the edges, leaving a 4" opening at the back.
4. Turn the hat right side out and press.
5. Sew the two lining pieces together around the edges, leaving a 4" opening at the back.
6. Turn the lining right side out and insert it into the hat.
7. Sew the lining to the hat around the edges, closing the opening at the back.
8. Fold the earflap pieces in half lengthwise and press.
9. Sew the earflap pieces to the hat, positioning them evenly around the edges.
10. Fold the bias tape in half and press.
11. Sew the bias tape around the edges of the hat, covering the raw edges of the earflaps.
12. Sew the button to the top of the hat.

Tips* If you don't have any interfacing, you can use a piece of cardboard or thin plastic.
* You can use any type of fabric for this hat, but a soft, cozy fabric will be the most comfortable to wear.
* You can adjust the size of the hat by increasing or decreasing the width of the hat pieces.
* You can also add a pompom or other embellishment to the top of the hat.
