Materials:
1 skein of worsted weight coral fleece yarn
US size 7 (4.5 mm) knitting needles
Tapestry needle

Gauge: 18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch

Finished Size: To fit a baby with a head circumference of 16-18 inches

Instructions:

Cast on:
Cast on 60 stitches.

Row 1: Knit all stitches.

Rows 2-24: Repeat Row 1.

Shape the crown:

Row 25: K2tog, knit to last 3 stitches, K2tog. (58 stitches)

Row 26: Knit all stitches.

Row 27: K2tog, knit to last 2 stitches, K2tog. (56 stitches)

Row 28: Knit all stitches.

Repeat Rows 25-28 until 12 stitches remain.

Bind off: Bind off all stitches.

Make the earflaps:

Cast on:
Cast on 10 stitches.

Row 1: Knit all stitches.

Rows 2-10: Repeat Row 1.

Bind off: Bind off all stitches.

Repeat Steps 1-4 to make the second earflap.

Sew the earflaps to the hat:

Fold the hat in half lengthwise and sew the earflaps to the inside edges, matching the centers of the earflaps to the centers of the sides of the hat.

Finish:

Weave in any loose ends and your baby earflap hat is complete!

Tips:
For a larger hat, cast on more stitches. For a smaller hat, cast on fewer stitches.
You can also adjust the length of the earflaps to your liking.
If you don't have coral fleece yarn, you can use any type of worsted weight yarn.
