Materials:- 1 skein of worsted weight coral fleece yarn
- Size H (5 mm) crochet hook
- Yarn needle

Gauge:- 4 stitches = 1 inch

Abbreviations:- ch: chain
- sc: single crochet
- hdc: half double crochet
- dc: double crochet
- tr: treble crochet
- sl st: slip stitch

Instructions:Crown:
1. Ch 4, join with a sl st to form a ring.
2. Round 1: Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch), sc 6 in the ring, join with a sl st to first sc (6 sc).
3. Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around, join with a sl st to first sc (12 sc).
4. Round 3: Ch 1, *sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around, join with a sl st to first sc (18 sc).
5. Round 4: Ch 1, *sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around, join with a sl st to first sc (24 sc).
6. Repeat Round 5 until the crown measures about 5 inches in diameter.
Brim:
1. Round 6: Ch 1, *sc in next sc, hdc in next sc; repeat from * around, join with a sl st to first sc (36 stitches).
2. Round 7: Ch 1, *hdc in next sc, dc in next sc; repeat from * around, join with a sl st to first sc (48 stitches).
3. Round 8: Ch 1, *dc in next sc, tr in next sc; repeat from * around, join with a sl st to first sc (60 stitches).
4. Round 9-12: Ch 1, dc in each stitch around, join with a sl st to first dc (60 stitches).
Earflap:
1. Work in the back loop only of the next 15 dc stitches.
2. Ch 1, sc in each sc across the brim to the next dc stitch, sc in the next dc stitch and the next 14 dc stitches, turn (16 stitches).
3. Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn (16 stitches).
4. Repeat Step 3 until the earflap measures about 5 inches long.

Other Earflap:
1. Work in the back loop only of the next 15 dc stitches on the opposite side of the brim from the first earflap.
2. Ch 1, sc in each sc across the brim to the next dc stitch, sc in the next dc stitch and the next 14 dc stitches, turn (16 stitches).
3. Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn (16 stitches).
4. Repeat Step 3 until the earflap measures about 5 inches long.
5. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Finishing:
1. Fold up the brim of the hat about 1 inch and sew in place.
2. Tie a ribbon or yarn bow around the base of the hat, if desired.
