How to Knit a Kawaii Bunny Face Warmer for Ear Protection310


Materials:
1 skein of worsted weight yarn in white
1 skein of worsted weight yarn in pink
Size US 8 (5mm) circular needles or DPNs
Scissors
Tapestry needle
Optional: pom-pom maker

Abbreviations:
CO: cast on
K: knit
P: purl
K2tog: knit two stitches together
P2tog: purl two stitches together
YO: yarn over
SSK: slip, slip, knit
KFB: knit into the front and back of the same stitch

Instructions:

Ear Flaps:
Make two ear flaps. CO 12 stitches in white. Knit every row for 20 rows.
Shape the ears. Row 21: K2, K2tog, K8 (10 stitches). Row 22: P10. Repeat these two rows until there are 4 stitches left. Bind off.

Bunny Face:
Knit the face. CO 30 stitches in pink. Knit every row for 10 rows.
Create the cheeks. Row 11: K4, KFB, K16, KFB, K4 (32 stitches). Row 12: P32. Row 13: Knit to the last 4 stitches, KFB, K4 (33 stitches). Row 14: P33. Repeat rows 12-14 until the face is 2.5 inches wide.

Bunny Hat Brim:
Join the ear flaps and face. Using a three-needle bind-off, join the two ear flaps to the edges of the face, being sure to match the rows up.
Knit the brim. Starting at the top of one ear flap, pick up 5 stitches along the edge of the flap. CO 20 stitches. Pick up 5 stitches along the edge of the other ear flap. Join to work in the round. Knit every row for 3 inches.

Bunny Ears:
Make six bunny ears. Using a pom-pom maker or a fork, create six white pom-poms. Tie the pom-poms onto the top of the hat.

Bunny Eyes and Nose:
Embroider the eyes. Using black embroidery thread, embroider two eyes onto the face.
Embroider the nose. Using pink embroidery thread, embroider a small nose in the center of the face.

Finishing:
Weave in any loose ends.
