Materials
1 skein of worsted weight yarn in your desired color
Size H (5mm) crochet hook
Yarn needle
Scissors

Instructions

Round 1: With the crochet hook and yarn, make a magic circle. Single crochet (sc) 10 times into the circle. Pull the magic circle closed and join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (10 sc)

Round 2: Chain (ch) 2 (counts as first sc). Work 2 sc in each sc around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (20 sc)

Round 3: Ch 2. Work 1 sc in the first sc. *Work 2 sc in the next sc. Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (30 sc)

Round 4-10: Repeat Round 3. (30 sc)

Round 11: Ch 2. Work 2 sc in each sc around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (60 sc)

Round 12: Ch 2. Work 2 sc in the first sc. *Work 3 sc in the next sc. Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (90 sc)

Round 13: Ch 2. Work 2 sc in each sc around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (90 sc)

Round 14-22: Repeat Round 13. (90 sc)

Round 23: Ch 2. Work 2 sc in the first sc. *Work 2 sc in the next sc. Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (60 sc)

Round 24: Ch 2. Work 2 sc in each sc around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (60 sc)

Round 25-35: Repeat Round 24. (60 sc)

Round 36: Ch 2. Work 1 sc in the first sc. *Work 2 sc in the next sc. Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (90 sc)

Round 37: Ch 2. Work 1 sc in each sc around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (90 sc)

Round 38: Ch 2. *Work 1 sc in each of the next 6 sc. Work 1 sc2tog, ch 2, sc2tog, sc in each of the next 2 sc. Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (72 sc)

Round 39: Ch 2. Work 2 sc in each sc around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (144 sc)

Round 40: Ch 2. *Work 1 sc in each of the next 6 sc. Work 1 sc2tog, ch 2, sc2tog, sc in each of the next 2 sc. Repeat from * around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (108 sc)

Round 41-49: Repeat Round 40. (108 sc)

Round 50: Ch 2. Work 1 sc in each sc around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. (108 sc)

Fold the hat in half and sew the side seams together. Leave a hole for the earflaps.

Make the earflaps: Ch 15. Sc in each ch. Sew the earflaps to the hat.

Fold the brim of the hat up and sew it in place.

Your butterfly earflap hat is now complete!
