Crochet Earflap Hat: Part 1 & 261

Materials:* Worsted weight yarn in two colors
* Crochet hook size H/5mm
* Scissors

Abbreviations:* ch - chain stitch
* sc - single crochet
* dc - double crochet
* tr - treble crochet
* sl st - slip stitch

Part 1: Earflaps

Row 1: Chain 6. Turn.

Row 2: Sc in 2nd chain from hook and in each remaining chain. (4 sc) Turn.

Row 3: Ch 1. Sc in each st. (4 sc) Turn.

Rows 4-10: Repeat row 3.

Row 11: Ch 1. Sc in the first st and in each st across. Ch 1. Turn.

Rows 12-15: Repeat row 11. Fasten off.

Make 2 earflaps.

Part 2: Hat

Row 1: With color A, chain 72. Join with a sl st to form a ring.

Rows 2-5: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. Join with a sl st. (72 sc)

Row 6: Ch 1. *Dc in next 2 sc, tr in next sc*. Repeat from * to * around. Join with a sl st. (24 dc, 24 tr)

Row 7: Ch 1. *Tr in next dc, dc in next 2 tr*. Repeat from * to * around. Join with a sl st. (24 tr, 48 dc)

Rows 8-10: Repeat row 7.

Row 11: Ch 1. *Dc in next 2 tr, tr in next dc*. Repeat from * to * around. Join with a sl st. (48 dc, 24 tr)

Row 12: Ch 1. *Tr in next dc, dc in next tr*. Repeat from * to * around. Join with a sl st. (24 tr, 24 dc)

Rows 13-15: Repeat row 12.

Row 16: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. Join with a sl st. (72 sc)

Rows 17-20: Repeat row 5.

Finish: Fasten off. Attach earflaps by sewing them in place as desired.
